CAN-SPAM ActEarlier this week the FTC released an update to the "Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act" (CAN-SPAM Act) based on feedback from consumers, a broad representation of people in the online industry, as well as the commission's own legal experience.  The new rule provisions are intended to clarify some of the Act's requirements.  Here is a quick summary of the highlights for our fellow email marketers.

Email Open RatesIn a previous blog I discussed the relevance of open rates and how with the introduction of image blocking and mobile devices the metric has become flawed.  While I stand by my statements and encourage you to look beyond the opens to the clicks and conversions, I think there is a valid place in our metrics for opens - that is, if we change our perception of what they truly are.
